I think it was around third grade. I had bad asthma as a kid so I was in and out of the hospital; I was in there when it came out. My mom said “Here, I got this for you,” and she gave me a new GB and Super Mario Land.I was so excited I remember the doctor getting mad at me.
From the next day on, whenever my mom visited I’d keep giving her reports like “I made it up to point X or point Y!” and she’d smile and all that.Sorry for the serious response.
Thanks mom!4 responses to “Memories of the original Game Boy”

I have a soft spot for the Game Boy, I also share a lot of these memories.
Nice blog by the way, it’s very interesting and informative.

Finding the perfect angle to view the GB screen, only to have the light source change and mess things up. -
Looking at the Gameboy screen from an almost horizontal angle to earn precious last minutes of game while batteries were dying.
